Comedy legend Elayne Boosler is going to be the next guest on Ron Bennington’s critically acclaimed Unmasked series on SiriusXM.
Elayne is coming in to talk about releasing her new special compilation, Timeless, which is being released via Comedy Dynamics on August 31 via the Comedy Dynamics Content Delivery Network- aka everywhere comedy is bought and sold.
Boosler was the first female comedian to have a comedy special on TV, and her new set will include Party of One, the special Elayne funded herself in 1986 as well as Broadway Baby (1987), Top Tomata (1989), and Live Nude Girls (1991), each in its own way groundbreaking and funny for all time. As a bonus, Elayne’s new album, The 50/50 Club, recorded live around the country, rounds out the set. In New York Times article from 1986 that announced Boosler’s hour-long Showtime comedy special called “Party of One” — a rare accomplishment for women at the time — the Times described Boosler as a member of the “Johnny Carson-David Letterman-Merv Griffin” comedy circuit.
Boosler was the first woman comic to ever receive a stand-up special on television when Showtime aired her debut special, Party of One. She is best known for her thoughtful and feisty socially conscious humor. For over forty years, she has appeared on seemingly every talk show ever on TV, has written and starred in five of her own one-hour Showtime standup comedy specials, written and directed two movies for Cinemax, and has hosted innumerable specials, series, and events.
