A new biography about the life of Meryl Streep says that while she was filming the 1979 movie ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’, actor Dustin Hoffman slapped Streep hard on the cheek so that he could get the right emotional response from the actress that he thought the scene was asking for. Streep and the rest of the crew were shocked, but it didn’t stop there. Later the book alleges, Hoffman began taunting Streep about the death of her boyfriend John Cazale who died of cancer, causing Streep to leave the set. His methods may be extreme, but they totally work in his films. If he wasn’t a method actor, Hoffman would have never given us classic performances in movies like ‘Meet The Fockers’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’.
