Connecticut Passes Nation’s Strongest Gun Laws

Following the Sandy Hook shootings, legislators in Connecticut say they have passed the toughest new gun laws in the country. The new gun legislation package includes:

• – A new state-issued eligibility certificate required for the purchase of any rifle, shotgun or ammunition.
• – People convicted of 40 or more weapons offenses will have to register with the state as a gun offender.
• – Universal background checks for the sale of all firearms.
• – A ban on the future sale of high-capacity magazines with more than 10 bullets.
• – An expansion of the state’s existing ban on assault weapons.
