Comedy Celebrities Bobby Lee, Kumail Nanjiani and More Mocument The Career of a Legend – Lance Cantstopolis
Fahim Anwar’s ‘Outta Nowhere’ Mockumentary Celebrates Lance Cantstopolis with Bobby Lee, Kumail Nanjiani and More
Fahim Anwar isn’t just a jack of all trades, he’s a master of them. Not only is he one of the funniest young comedians in Los Angeles, but he’s also an accomplished actor, great sketch writer, has some serious dance moves, and even showed off his pipes on The Goddamn Comedy Jam. Oh yeah, and he’s got a mechanical engineering degree and used to work for Boeing.
In 2012 his sketch group, Goatface Comedy (which also includes Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj), caught the eye of hip hop group Das Racist. The band asked the comedians to produce the video for their single ‘Girl‘, so Goatface member Aristotle Athiras stepped behind the camera and Fahim stepped in front, introducing the world to Lance Cantstopolis. In the four years since, Lance has taken on a life of his own. His videos and live appearances usually delight – but sometimes bewilder – audiences and have drawn the admiration of many in the comedy community. We could give Lance a bit more introduction here, but we’ll leave that to Chris D’Elia, Bobby Lee, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kumail Nanjiani, Jeff Ross, Neal Brennan and the man himself.
