“Casablanca” Alternate Ending Could Be the Sketch of the Year On SNL

Thanks to SNL’s “Cinema Classics” sketch, we get to see the way “Casablanca” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman should have ended and it may have been the best sketch of the season.  This alternate ending to the 1942 classic film adds some reality to the situation that Rick Blaine and Ilsa Lund find themselves in at the end of the film.

SNL host J.K. Simmon’s plays Bogart’s role of Rick while Kate McKinnon does a spot on Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa, right down to her pleading, “No, no, no”. In the original, Ilsa can’t stand the thought of getting on the plane and leaving Rick behind. In SNL’s version, Ilsa realizes she’s destined for a concentration camp if she doesn’t get on board, and the tables turn as McKinnon tries to speed J.K. Simmons through his speech.
