Atlanta Star Lakeith Stanfield Joins Adam Sandler’s Upcoming Diamond District Dramedy

Lakeith Stanfield who you know from Atlanta, Get Out, and Sorry to Bother You is joining the cast of Uncut Gems, a dramedy starring Adam Sandler as a jewelry store owner who deals to the rich and famous, who happens to have a gambling addiction. Stanfield will play a “key ally to a famous client of the jewelry store” according to Deadline.

Already on board are Eric Bogosian and Judd Hirsch who plays Sandler’s father in law.

The caper is set in motion when Sandler’s character deals with a crisis- his merchandise is stolen from one of his top sellers, and Sandlers character has to find a way to pay his debts.

In August, The Observer reported that the studio was looking to cast a Middle Eastern, Greek or Eastern European female in her late 20s to early 40s to play the role of the receptionist KMA jewelers, and an older Asian male to play an effeminate house auctioneer, as well as a Jewish man trying to collect money from Howard, Howard’s elderly mother and more. Casting is still underway.

The film is written by Josh and Ben Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, with Martin Scorsese on board as an EP.
