Ariana Gets to Joke at Pete Davidson’s Expense

When Saturday Night Live returned live after Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande broke off their engagement, there were reports that SNL had plans to address the breakup on air. But a planned bit was pulled last minute after word got back to Pete that Ariana was upset about a joke used in the show promo.

Pete can’t joke about it, but apparently Grande can. A teaser for the video of her new hit song “Thank You, Next” includes a joke about the breakup.

The joke comes in the form of a parody of the movie Mean Girls. “One time on Twitter, I heard Ariana was pregnant, so I got pregnant so we could be pregnant at the same time,” is the line that opens the clip, echoing the famous scene from Mean Girls. There are a bunch of other Mean-Girls-esque parody jokes, including one joking about the broken engagement.

Looks like the ban is off, at least on one side.

Come on SNL, lets see that sketch.
