Will Smith Couldn’t Resist An Old Jam
Will Smith was hanging out on Colbert’s Late Show last night and as they went to spots, Jon Batiste and Stay Human played them to break with a little instrumental “Summertime”, which of course is Smith’s hit song with DJ Jazzy Jeff in 1991.
Will was doing some of that ‘going to break’ whispering with Colbert when he held up his hand, and headed over to join the band. He picked up the mic and eased right into his old hit. Don’t know if he was just trying to get out of a bad conversation with Steve Colbert, or if he just really felt moved to groove, but it fit him like a glove. The voice is a little lower and there was no rehearsal, but the audience didn’t care. We know because they were waving their hands in the ay-er, like they just don’t cay-er.
What does Stay Human gotta play to get Will interested in doing comedy again? ‘Cause let’s make that happen.
