Who’s Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight? September 17, 2016

The countdown is on.  Only two more repeat weeks until Saturday Night Live returns LIVE for an all new Season 42. But for now, SNL is still in reruns. Tonight, a season 41 favorite will air- with SNL alum Tracy Morgan hosting. It’s been almost a year since the Morgan helmed SNL episode first aired on October 17, but it was a pretty emotional episode well worth revisiting. This was Tracy’s first time back on television as a performer since the 2014 accident that nearly killed him.

The episode was not only emotional, it was also terrific, ranking as one of the best episodes of the season.  Tracy pulled a Willie Wonka in his monologue, appearing to be mentally impaired initially but then busting out a strong opening segment. You’ll get to see some old 30 Rock friends, like Alec Baldwin, , and . And Morgan also brought back both of his favorite characters from his SNL days- Astronaut Jones, and Brian Fellow- and even though the segments were little more than rehashes of the old faves, viewers (and that includes us) were pretty happy.

But as great as it was to see Tracy perform, the moment of the night was stolen by special guest Larry David, who appeared in the cold open as Bernie Sanders. It was his first time on SNL in the role, (one which would be repeated often as the season rolled on), and it brought down the house.

Watch the SNL rerun at 11:30pm in the east, while we all wait to see who is going to be helming the Season 42 opener on October 1.
