Another Botched Execution Takes Place

Wood’s attorneys say he spent “more than an hour” of his last moments “gasping and snorting” through a botched lethal injection that violated his Eighth Amendment right against cruel and unusual punishment. In the middle of his execution, Wood’s attorneys filed an emergency motion to stop the process and have him revived. Woods attorney is saying that the botched execution violated the constitutions prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment.

His attorney did not comment on whether the 1989 murders of Wood’s ex-girlfriend and her father would also constitute cruel or unusual punishment.
