Who is Hosting Saturday Night Live Tonight: June 3, 2017
Saturday Night Live wrapped Season 42 two weeks ago, so the show is not live tonight, but NBC continues to air repeat episodes of the series all summer long, so if you missed a few episodes this year, this is your chance to catch up. Tonight, NBC airs a recent rerun- with Chris Pine hosting. The episode originally aired on May 6, 2017.
This was Pine’s first time hosting. He’s probably best known as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek movie reboot, and he was in Hell or High Water last summer (maybe our favorite movie of 2016), but the reason his episode is re-running now, is because he’s currently starring in the summer’s first super hero movie- Wonder Woman.
Don’t wait up to see a great Wonder Woman sketch- SNL didn’t go there in this episode, but Pine delivered a solid monologue about the confusing number of young Chris’ taking on big movie roles these days, and there are some funny sketches. Highlights of the episode included a hilarious Star Trek parody featuring Bobby Moynihan as Spock’s brother Spocko, a new Weekend Update character from departing castmember Vanessa Bayer, a headline generating parody of Morning Joe, a parody of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, and a weird, but hilarious bit about auto mechanics who reluctantly reveal that they’re big fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
LCD Soundsystem appears as the musical guest.
Saturday Night Live will return with new episodes in the fall, but until then you can enjoy reliving Season 42.
