When Did California Change?

California votes no on Prop 37–  mandatory labeling for genetically modified foods.  The real question is…why wouldn’t the health-food-loving-anti-monsanto state of California want to know?

Warning! This tomato may contain a genetically altered gene that re-animates dead or dying cells resulting in the possible rise of the “undead”

Let me guess, confusing wording on the ballot that makes it so the public has no idea if a “yes” or a “no” supports the bill?

kind of sad when iran, and china require it, for the consumer to be able to know, and the corp. money ‘buys’ the vote to oppose.

California passed another one of these warning label things about 10 years ago – Prop. 65 – that required manufacturers, vendors, et al. to put a warning label on any product that potentially contained any suspected carcinogenic or mutagenic materials.   Since there are a lot of everyday materials that have never gone through full regulatory tests, the manufacturers stuck the labels on pretty much everything, creating little more than confusion in the general public.  I suspect the people out there thought this was a similar well -intentioned but ultimately unworkable bureaucratic nightmare.  I think they were right and I say that as a commie symp liberal. I think this prop was pretty straightforward either it’s marked as GMO or its not. How hard can it be. They already doing to on the fruit codes. I f the number leads with an 8 up its GMO, if it leads with a 9 it’s organic.

You’d thnk Cali would be all over stuff like gay marriage and GMO labeling, but I guess they are not who we thought they were.
