More big news from stars of TruTV’s hit sketch series Friends of the People.  Head writer Kevin Barnett and co-star Josh Rabinowitz have been tapped by NBC to develop and star in an ‘odd couple’ style comedy series for the network, Deadline reports.

The project is being described as a story of two best friends who are doing great in their careers, but have decided they hate what they are doing so they quit to pursue something more personally fulfilling. So they’ve hit their mid life crisis early, and are going on a journey of personal exploration, but one without travel or growth.  Deadline says, “it’s the classic story about the 50 year-old white woman giving up the American dream to discover herself in another country, but about two dudes in their 20s who move nowhere.”  Rabinowitz and Barnett will executive produce.

Friends of the People just finished airing their second season (or as they called it their first and a half season), and it seems like great things are happening all over for the seven co-stars. Lil Rel Howery has a great role in Jerrod Carmichael‘s The Carmichael Show which has already been picked up for a second season.  Just a few weeks ago CBS announced they are developing a series with co-star Jermaine Fowler, and twins and FOTP co-stars Keith Lucas and Kenny Lucas have multiple projects in development. At this rate, it should be a matter of hours before we hear that Jennifer Bartels- who has all the star power of her hilarious co-stars- has her own series in the works.
