Pixar is moving into the romantic comedy genre with the next “Toy Story” movie. Talking about the next installment, company president Jim Morris said, “It’s not a continuation of the end of Toy Story 3. Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. The focus is not going to be placed on the interaction between the characters and children.”

The animated franchise was expected to finish it’s run after “Toy Story 3”, but Disney and Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter who will be going back behind the camera for #4 said the new script idea convinced him to more forward with a separate “Toy Story” film. He said, “I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie — and I wanted to direct it myself.”

No other details have been given out other than it’s about toys in love. The script was written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack based on an idea from Pixar’s team of Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Toy Story 4” is due in theaters on June 17th, 2017.
