That Time Aidy Bryant Passed Out After an SNL Writers Party

Tuesday night on Seth Meyers, Aidy Bryant was talking about her favorite SNL sketch this year, which was also one of our favorites. It was a digital short contrasting the promising way Halloween night starts out for young women on the prowl, with the horrific reality of where those expectations end up. “It’s fully based on a Halloween that I experienced in college where I was dressed as a leopard and thought I was very fucking cute,” she told Seth.  She said she was “feeling herself so hard” when she went to a theater department party. She drank, kissed a boy, and immediately went home and called her high school boyfriend, in tears, while whiskers make-up poured down her face.

Aidy described herself as not much of a drinker, and even used the words goody two shoes to describe herself.  Which of course, led to her telling a story of the one time she blew that goody two shoes thing out the window. It was at the SNL writers party in 2016.

Every year, the writers and cast go out for a gigantic night of drinking. It’s the SNL Writers’ Party and it happens on the Thursday before the last episode every season. Seth and Aidy both agreed, “it’s a full on boozer.”

“You take all the anxiety, and stress and power from the season and pour it into one night of drinking alcohol. This most recent one that we had at the end of last season almost destroyed me as a human woman.”

Bryant said she drank so much, she blacked out.  “I don’t even know how I got home,” she said. “I had to drunk detective piece everything together the next morning.”  She then described waking up in the hallway of her building– on the floor– when a newspaper being delivered flew past her head.  It was a night she would never forget, except that she doesn’t really remember it.
