Tiffany Haddish to Co-Star in New Tracy Morgan Comedy

The still-unnamed Tracy Morgan comedy that TBS picked up last year is showing some signs of life for the first time in months. It’s been announced that stand up comedian, Comedy Jam sensation and  The Carmichael Show co-star Tiffany Haddish has been cast to star opposite Morgan.

Created by Jordan Peele (Get Out, Key and Peele) and John Carcieri (Vice Principals), the show is still searching for a name. It will tell the story of Tray (Morgan), a guy from Brooklyn who has just been released after a 15-year prison sentence. When he returns to his home borough, he is alarmed to find that everything has changed: The neighborhood’s been gentrified, everyone has a smart phone, and worst of all, his ex-girlfriend is raising the twin sons he never knew he had with some bourgie white guy. Haddish will be playing Tray’s girlfriend, Shay, who has transformed from a badass street girl to a smug socialite during the time that Tray has been gone. Tray will have to struggle to adjust to this new world while also trying to win the affections of his lost love and the kids who don’t know him from a stranger on the street.

This is a big moment for Haddish who is becoming a hot property. She’s received high praise for her role as Nekeisha on The Carmichael Show. In addition to her contributions to recent projects like Legends of Chamberlain Heights and Animal Nation with Anthony Anderson, Haddish is also co-starring alongside Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith in the upcoming flick Girls Trip, due out July 21st.
