The New York Times Declares There Are Five Types Of Sandwiches

sandwichThe New York Times has put together what it considers the comprehensive “Field Guide to the American Sandwich”. According to the Times, here’s the 5 categories that sandwiches fall into.

There are sandwiches made on Kaiser or “hard” rolls.

There are sandwiches made on soft buns.

There are sandwiches made on long hero or sub rolls.

There are sandwiches made on sliced bread.

And there are what we call “singulars,” which are those creations on bread that falls outside these other groups but are still vital to the sandwich landscape, like the muffuletta.

While controversial, kudos to them for completely omitting the wrap, a modern day abomination to hand held food which should be banished forever.
