The L.A. River Opens to the Public

los-angeles-river-2-story-topA 2.5 mile long section of the the Los Angeles River opens to the public this week, providing the opportunity for kayaking, canoeing, and other non-motorized boating. The river had been closed since the 1930s and was used as a flood control panel, and unofficially as a dumping ground for the fruits of violent crime. Finally, people with pulses and vital signs will be able to experience the Los Angeles River.
