@John in va His work is rich and deep and, despite parodies to the contrary, extraordinarily varied, from the score of The Natural to the singing tribute to The Great Nations of Europe.  NEVER get tired of listening those and, in no particular order, Faust, My Life, Rednecks, Louisiana, Political Science (Let’s drop the big one and see what happens), Birmingham, Kingfish, Ballad of the Three Amigos, Gainesville, I Love L.A. and Dixie Flyer.

Sam Peckinpah’s output from 1969-1974 was one of the most phenomenal runs for any director.
The Wild Bunch, The Ballad of Cable Hogue, Straw Dogs, Junior Bonner, The Getaway, Pat
Garrett & Billy the Kid, and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.

Philip Roth – the go-to guy for when you want to read about older Jewish guys reminiscing about  schtupping shiksas.
Operation Shylock was long, but oddly hypnotic.
