TBS and Conan Joining Up With the New York Comedy Festival

It seems that each year, the New York Comedy Festival gets bigger, and this year looks to be no exception. While we may be over nine months away from the event, the folks at the NYCF have already announced some big news: For this year’s festival, they’ll be teaming up with TBS to bring the experience to the next level.

In a press release on Thursday, TBS announced that they will be collaborating with the folks at the NYCF to bring “transmedia fan experiences, create a variety of digital and linear content initiatives, and explore development opportunities with the next fresh voices in the comedy space.” Now, the corporate jargon may sound dry, but this means that TBS will be lending its resources to help put out increased digital content from the event and help shine a spotlight on some of the standout stars that hit the stage, which is good for both the comics and the fans.

In addition to the interactive events and digital content, TBS is also lending another one of it’s resources: Conan O’Brien! Conan will be in New York City the week of the festival in order to shoot a series of episodes live from the Apollo Theatre.

“TBS is at the forefront of comedy initiatives, and we are thrilled to begin working with them and taking the festival to new heights,” said New York Comedy Festival/Carolines on Broadway owner Caroline Hirsch.  “Partnering with TBS will provide us with new opportunities to present the very best comedic talent across multiple platforms and bring additional creative components to the festival, while finding new ways to engage with fans and audiences.”

More announcements regarding TBS’ contributions to the festival are sure to come out as the event gets closer, more details as they come!
