Take Amy Schumer Seriously: Schumer Joins Cast of PTSD Drama
There is no denying that if 2015 had an “It” girl, it was Amy Schumer and it looks like she’s taking the next step in 2016 of testing the waters of some more serious work.
According to Deadline, she is expanding her acting chops to include a dramatic role in the upcoming Thank you for Your Service.
Penned by American Sniper writer Jason Hall, Thank You for Your Service tells the story of a group of soldiers that have returned from war, and the demons they face long after they have left the battlefield behind them. the movie will shine a light on the difficulties associated with Integrating back into society, balancing family and the struggles of PTSD .
The film based on the 2013 book of the same name published by Sarah Crichton Books also stars Haley Bennett, Joe Cole, Beulah Koale, Scott Haze, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Brad Beyer, Omar Dorsey and Jayson Warner Smith.
She’s also reportedly signed a deal with Fox for Mother/Daughter (with rumors swirling around of Goldie Hawn being the mother in question). Between writing and starring in Trainwreck, the subsequent activism that stemmed from the Louisiana theatre shooting during a screening of that same movie and the success of her Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer, a skillful deflection of accusations of joke theft, and book deal on the table, Schumer left no room for doubt that she is a force to be reckoned with.
