The Very Best of 2014 on The IBang

It's been a tremendous year of change for all of us. At the end of our first year devoted full time to comedy, we wanted to thank everyone who has helped the site grow. The contributors, the developers, the writers, readers and commenters, and everyone who helps us out by retweeting, posting on other sites and boards, we can't thank you enough. We have big plans for 2015 to continue and grow and hope you'll all stick around.

Any time you try to make a list of the "top" anything, it's always a little bit subjective, due to the point of view of the writer. With the understanding that it's not an exact science, and really just an opinion, I will give you my top 15 comedy events list of 2014, of all the events that I covered during the year. Some of the events I was involved with in some way, but most of them not! I tried to be as impartial as I could.

Robert Kelly Will Guest on Next Unmasked at The Stand Comedy Club

The first Unmasked of the New Year will be at The Stand comedy club in New York City with host Ron Bennington and special guest Robert Kelly. You know Kelly as one of New York's best stand up comedians, and of course from his Riotcast Podcast, You Know What Dude! and as a long time regular on The Opie and Anthony Show on SiriusXM, and The Ron and Fez Show.

Joe Lists Helmet Has Been Sold! But You Can Still Donate to Help Kevin

On September 4, 2014 the 2014 NFL season began. It was also the day that 49 comedians set out to compete in the Highlander comedian football challenge, run by SiriusXM's Ron and Fez Show and The Interrobang. 49 entered but only one would leave and that one, was Joe List. In a classy and unexpected move, List offered to donate the winning trophy- a signed helmet- to a charitable cause.

Ron White Remembers When Robin Williams Showed Compassion to a Comic Struggling With Demons and Sobriety. And Breaks Down.

Ron White recently came to the SiriusXM studios to tape an episode of "Unmasked" with host Ron Bennington. He talked to Bennington about his start in comedy in his home state of Texas, his infamous run ins with the law and his days on tour. He also reflected on his widely publicized drinking and drug use which he offers no excuses for. In an emotional moment during the interview, the larger-than-life Texas personality shared a very personal story about a time when Robin Williams, someone he had never met before, stepped in to offer some help.

Joe List Wins Comedian Highlander Football Challenge. Joe List is The One.

It started with 49 comedians, battling it out in the Ron and Fez Show/The Interrobang ESPN NFL Comedian Eliminator Challenge. To win, they had to beat the odds, and the other comedians by picking one winning team each week of the NFL season. Anyone who chose wrong was eliminated. To win, you only had to outlast everyone else, until there was only one.

A Night at Uncivil Union: Comedy For Equality

Friday night was the big gay event of the New York Comedy Festival. The evening was called Uncivil Union: Comedy For Equality. It was held at the Bell House in Brooklyn. The night featured an incredible line up of comedians, both gay and straight, including Rhea Butcher, Jim Gaffigan, Reggie Watts, Cameron Esposito and James Adomian. These are very talented people that I had either met on the Ron and Fez Show, Unmasked or heard about on the Interrobang.com

New York’s Funniest Contest Shows Off Amazing Young Talent, Picks a Winner

Yesterday the New York Comedy Festival hosted its annual New York's Funniest Contest at Carolines on Broadway and there was amazing talent to choose from. Chris DiStefano hosted a sold out house in the middle of Saturday afternoon as eleven young New York based comics took the stage. Caroline herself was in the house and presented the award of being New York's Funniest to Ricky Velez, from Queens New York, who was also the audience favorite.

Comedy Central to Release Big Jay Oakerson Album

Monday November 17th Comedy Central Records will be releasing a gigantic new comedy album from New York's new king of crowdwork, Big Jay Oakerson. The album is titled "The Crowd Work Sessions: What’s Your F@!?#ng Deal?!” and will be available on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and all streaming services.
