It's still very Lorne Michaels in casting, but far more Carol Burnett in feel and yet still current...just a little more adult. Armisen Delivers Strong Season Finale for SNL With Special Guests

It was a rough two weeks for SNL but last night's episode with Fred Armisen as host closed season 41 on a high note. Armisen delivered a bizarre but hilarious extended opening monologue, where Armisen shared an excerpt from his fictional one man show about how SNL changed his life. Armisen explained that he owes everything to he place where he got his start, and said that's why he created a one man show, "Love From New York I Did Saturdays Right." He shared excerpts, which included re-enacting getting the call to audition for SNL, and his experience trying out for the role of a lifetime, and impressions of a buddy from home who might have been Barney Rubble.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus on SNL: “I’m Gonna F*ck That Kid” Plus Elaine Benes Returns and Two Major Guest Cameos

Last night Julia Louis-Dreyfus returned to 30 Rock last night to host Saturday Night Live, the show that gave her, her television debut. Louis-Dreyfus didn't get much air time back in the 80's when she was a castmember- the show either wasn't a good fit or show's producers just didn't know how to use her. But everything worked out fine, she went on to become a giant success on shows like Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep. And last night's show was full of winks and nods and outright homages to her lack of success on SNL and gigantic post-SNL career, including visits from Seinfeld's co-creator Larry David, and Veep co-host Tony Hale.
