Amazon loves Woody Allen. Not only did they sign Allen to create his first serialized television show, they've also now grabbed up his latest romcom-- as yet untitled-- which will star Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey and Jeannie Berlin.

The Writers Guild of America 2016 writing awards were handed out over the weekend. The guild breaks up the ceremonies into two events, one on each coast. In the age of social media, the announcement of winners often gets to the left coast well before the event begins, destroying the anticipation and dulling the proverbial shine of the event. Legendary screenwriter Elaine May managed to save the day with her insight and wit, playfully mocking role of the writer in Hollywood. “Then someone told me there’s going to be a red carpet...Excuse me, no designer is going to give writers clothes!”

Woody Allen has cast Miley Cyrus, and comedy legend Elaine May in his upcoming Amazon series, according to THR.com, and THR also reports that Allen himself is planning to appear on screen in the series. The filmmaker appeared in 2012's To Rome With Love, but his roles in his own projects have been few and far between over the last two decades. No word yet on how large of a role he's planning to play in the six episode project for Amazon.
