Neal Brennan Talks About The Approval Matrix, Comedy Kale and Why Journalists are Hypocrites

Neal Brennan—a standup veteran, writer, director of Inside Amy Schumer, and co-creator of Chapelle's Show—has now taken on yet another venture: he's the host of Sundance's new show The Approval Matrix. Currently in its third week, the show is based on the much-loved back page of New York Magazine, which grades pop culture topics on a scale of “brilliant to despicable,” and “low-brow to high-brow.” With only three episodes under his belt, Brennan has already managed to offend masses, calling Louie C.K. “the kale of comedy” and stating that he believes “affirmative action has no place in art.” Neal sat down with us to discuss his new job, his comments about kale, and why he thinks journalists are hypocrites (uh-oh).

Second Annual Funny or Die Oddball Comedy Tour Dates

An all-star lineup has been announced for this summer’s “Funny Or Die Presents Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival 2014.” Last year's 15 city tour was so successful that this year's events are being greatly expanded. 21 dates of comedy kicks off on August 8 in Tampa, Florida, and concludes on September 21 in Austin, Texas.

In addition to Joe "the handsome vault" Machi, we now know that comedy great Jimmy Shubert is joining the competition, so watch out everyone else, you're in for a tough fight. Shubert called in to the Ron and Fez Show today to promote his appearance this weekend on Dave Attell's Comedy Underground and also confirmed that we will see him on Last Comic Standing tonight.

Mike Bocchetti’s New York Comedy Class of 1992

Every comedian has a class they belong to. It's the year they entered comedy. It's a defining year, and you never forget the other people who were in your "class." Comedian Mike Bocchetti was in the class of 1992. Since then he's gone on to appearances on the Howard Stern Show, the Jim Breuer Show and The Opie and Anthony Show on SiriusXM. He appeared on 2 seasons of NBC's Last Comic Standing and acted with Robert DeNiro in the feature film "The Family". Mike was also the announcer for the Artie Lange Show which aired on DirectTV and co-founded Blasted Films with comedian Ken Burmeister. This is his look at the class of 1992.
