Industry Pays Tribute to Late Andy Ritchie; Offers Free Album Download
SXSW and Stand Up Records pays tribute to Andy Ritchie, offers late comedians album as free download.
Comedian Andy Ritchie passed away last year after a well publicized battle with a brain tumor His death rattled many of the most well respected working comedians to the core. From the well known to the unknown, the comedy community came together to raise funds for Andy and his finace, comedian Ruby Collins. Unfortunately, nothing could be done and Andy passed away in late 2015.
Ritchie started performing improv in Minneapolis, transplanted to the Austin comedy scene to hone his stand-up chops, and had just recently moved to LA to begin writing for television. No matter the city, Ritchie left a positive lasting impression. rare is the human that can call several comedy scenes home, yet have no one say a bad thing about him. I didn’t know Ritchie but many of my friends did. From the most cynical stand-ups to the happiest improvisors, everyone loved Andy. Not only as a comedian, but also as an outstanding guy.
In an effort to honor a brilliant mind taken from the comedy community to soon, SXSW festival is offering Andy’s CD King Ding-a-Ling as a free download via their website. I’ve heard it said that one of the greatest honors for any performer is for their work to live on after they are gone. Props to SXSW, Stand Up Records and the comedy community for making sure a great man’s legacy lives on.
Download your Copy of King-Ding-A-Ling Here and share it with your friends. If you are in the LA area a memorial is planned for Ritchie at the Hollywood Hotel on February 27
