Surprise! Louis C.K. Made a Movie

Louis C.K. Surprise Film That Nobody Knew About (well some people did) Will Screen at TIFF

The Toronto Film Festival lineup was announced today, and on that lineup was a comedy surprise– a film from Louis C.K. that he wrote, directed and stars in. The film is black-and-white and is titled “I Love You Daddy.” This will be C.K.’s first time directing a film since Pootie Tang came out in 2001. The film was shot in New York City last year and stars Louis as Glen Topher, a successful television producer and writer. Chloe Grace Moretz plays his daughter, China. The film also stars frequent collaborator Pamela Adlon, as well as Charlie Day, Edie Falco, Helen Hunt, Rose Byrne and John Malkovich.

Despite the 15 year gap since directing a feature film, Louis has had plenty of experience in the role- episodes of his “Louie” series and “Horace and Pete” are often reminiscent of short films.

The Toronto Film Festival opens September 7th.
