Stephen Merchant Joins the Cast of ‘Wolverine 3’
Deadline is reporting that Stephen Merchant, best known for co-creating and writing the original version of The Office with Ricky Gervais, has signed onto the cast of Wolverine 3.
This will be the last of the stand-alone Wolverine films, and will also be the last time that actor Hugh Jackman will reprise the role of Logan a.k.a. Wolverine, a role he’s played for 17 years across eight movies. It is still unclear which role Merchant will be playing, but the writer and actor is known for his dry humor and killer sense of timing, so whoever he plays will undoubtedly be hilarious.
It was previously announced that X-Men veteran Patrick Stewart would be joining the cast, along with Narcos star Boyd Holbrook, who will play the film’s villain.
The film is being directed by James Mangold, who also directed The Wolverine and 3:10 to Yuma. It’s being written by David James Kelly and Michael Green and produced by Lauren Shuler Donner.
The film is eyeing March 3rd, 2017 as a release date.
