Stephen Colbert Will Be Live Election Night With a Show With a Very Long Name

Despite the time-honored tradition of spending Election Day screaming into a pillow, Stephen Colbert is classing November 8th up with an unprecedented special: “Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going To Clean Up This Shit?” Colbert and an array of guests will spend the hour long live SHOWTIME special breaking down the Presidential campaign as live results of states’ votes come in. “Who’s Going To Clean Up This Shit?” is free of CBS’ censors and produced in collaboration with “Late Show” showrunner Chris Licht and Jon Stewart.

2016 requires the gentler touch of a Stephen Colbert playing himself and not his character from “The Colbert Report”, which feels a little too real these days. The aptly named special is a small glimmer of relief in the barren wasteland of the past year’s political circus and the mounting tension as November nears. Broadcast from The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City, the show performs in front of a live audience although remote segments will also be featured with surprise guests. The late-night show airs at 11 PM EST, meaning it should occur while the official announcement of the next U.S. President is made, so we’ll all need a hand to hold onto with white knuckles.
