“Can you feel the force coming out of my mouth!?”

It’s been nineteen years since we saw Kevin Spacey playing Christopher Walken as Han Solo, Walter Matthau as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Jack Lemmon as Chewbacca. It’s been nine years since we got to see Norm MacDonald audition for the part of Darth Vader as Burt Reynolds, and Ana Gasteyer portray Barbra Streisand screen testing for the part of Princess Leia, and Darrel Hammond playing Richard Dreyfus auditioning for the part of C-3PO.

Now we have a new wave of Star Wars hype running rampant across the country. And since you can never pre-sell out too many theaters and showings, J.J. Abrams showed up on this week’s Saturday Night Live to try to drum up some interest in his new movie. Abrams shares the “lost screen tests” for a new generation of heroes in The Force Awakens and gets himself a great big commercial for the new movie in the process. Watch Cecily Strong as Sofia Vergara, Jay Pharoah as Shaq reading for Chewbacca, Beck Bennett as Javier Bardem, Kate McKinnon playing Dame Maggie Smith auditioning as a storm trooper, Aidy Bryant reading as Wynona Judd, and Leslie Jones as herself confusing Star Wars and Star Trek. Special appearance by John Hamm, Daisy Ridley Emma Stone and John Boyega should get the internet excited, but the showstopper for us was Jay Pharoah screen testing as Chris Tucker.
