SNL’s Kate McKinnon Scores First Great Robert Durst Impression

If a person is making front page headlines, there’s a really good chance Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon can do an impression of them. Kate scored another winner Saturday night with an impression of accused murderer and subject of HBO’s “The Jinx”, Robert Durst. Her impression was great and by great, we mean totally creepy. Kate McKinnon nailed Durst’s voice along with every tick, aggressive eye blink, snort and sniff that the alleged killer has.

The best part of SNL’s “Durst” sketch is that you didn’t see the impression coming. It opened with at an improv comedy club with the overly enthusiastic troupe Prince Charmin performing. When the improv group invited someone on stage, it was Kate McKinnon as Durst. His nemesis, former Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro was also in the sketch and played by Cecily Strong. Kate’s ‘Durst’ talked about killing her while dropping in lines from the HBO mini-series.

Between her Durst impression, the revised ending to Casablanca sketch, and coming off her amazing Hillary Clinton impersonation on SNL’s last live show, Kate McKinnon is finding a sweet spot to appear in the show’s most prominent sketches. Here’s hoping for a long long Robert Durst murder trial in Los Angeles.
