Think of how many sets take place on any episode of Saturday Night Live. Vulture took a tour of the SNL set building process. From the writers room to set design to a warehouse in Brooklyn, back to the studio for a load-in, and back to Brooklyn. And that’s just for one sketch.

Know that many sketches are written late in the week. Know that many sketches (and sets) get ditched after the dress rehearsal. Realize that their isn’t much room in studio 8-H. Be amazed that they pull it off every week for 40 years.
