SNL Shows Racists for Trump Mock Political Ad

Saturday morning, Louis C.K. may have grabbed the big headlines comparing Donald Trump to Hitler, but last night Saturday Night Live took that up a notch, showing the kind of Americans who are supporting Trump’s campaign.

The Saturday Night Live digital short starred Taran Killam, Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan, Aidy Bryant, Beck Bennett, and Kyle Mooney as the kind of American’s who explain why they’re voting for Trump. Six regular Americans explain Trump’s appeal while doing every day tasks in the mock campaign ad.  “He’s authentic,” “he’s creating jobs,” “he’s a great negotiator,” “he can make America great again” they explain while sitting by a fire, cutting wood, ironing, or painting a house.

Until the camera zooms out revealing what the Trump supporting every day Americans are really doing.  Taran Killam’s character who said “the guy’s a winner” reveals his Nazi armband, and Vanessa Bayer is shown ironing a KKK hood. Bobby Moynihan plays a guy who seems to be house painting, but he’s actually painting White Power on the side of a house. Aidy Bryant is tracking Muslims, and Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney are  both seen enjoying fires, but Bennett’s character is burning books, and Mooney is revealed to be getting wood for a cross burning, while saying he’s supporting Trump because he’s good at business.

The mock ad was the second politically themed piece of the evening– the cold open featured SNL alum Jason Sudeikis, Darrell Hammond, and Kate McKinnon as Mitt Romney, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
