Seeso Renews ‘Funny as Hell’: S6 Will Film At Just for Laughs

Seeso, NBC’s ad-free comedy platform, continues to expand its high-quality offerings with the announcement that it has partnered up with the Just For Laughs festival to produce a sixth season of the hit comedy showcase Funny as Hell. The previous five seasons of the show are all available on Seeso, and now the service has an exclusive deal to produce all-new content at JFL.

Funny as Hell is a showcase of some of the fastest, wittiest and most biting comics at JFL, with past seasons having featured performers such as Ari Shaffir, Pete Davidson, Greg Proops and Rachel Feinstein, just to name a few.

“’Funny as Hell’ has been killing it for Seeso since launch,” said Evan Shapiro, Executive Vice President of Digital Enterprises at NBCUniversal. “Partnering with Just For Laughs for an all new season was easy as hell.”

As it turns out, attracting comics to the show, always a coveted spot at the annual Montreal festival, was also easy as hell. Seeso has a solid lineup of comics already announced for this new six-episode season, and promise to reveal more as the festival gets closer. The comics that have been announced so far are Kurt Metzger, Janeane Garofalo, Cameron Esposito, Eugene Mirman, Aparna Nancherla, Sean Patton, Beth Stelling, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Liza Treyger, The Lucas Brothers, Sam Morril, Byron Bowers, Ian Abramson, James Davis, Sean Donnelly, Ahmed Bharoocha, and Emo Philips.

And, of course, Funny as Hell just wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t being hosted by JFL mainstay and accomplished writer/comic Jon Dore. The gang’s all here, and it looks like this year’s season is shaping up to give the rest a run for their money.
