Second City Released A 1995 Pilot Starring Amy Poehler

This season, Amy Poehler’s sitcom “Parks and Recreation” took the audience into the future to show what the characters would be like in the years ahead. This same week, Second City has released video of Amy Poehler from the past. The footage is excerpts from a TV pilot called “RVTV”. Amy shot this while still part of Chicago’s Second City troupe – about a year before coming to New York with the Upright Citizens Brigade. The excerpts here are a compilation of then 20 year old Amy Poehler’s scenes.

The premise of “RVTV” was that it featured a group of hackers on the road in a recreational vehicle taking over TV signals as they traveled around the country, wreaking havoc along the way. Amy plays an in-your-face rapping hacker in the show which also features Matt Dwyer and Second City improv legend Del Close. The pilot was directed by Adam McKay who would also go one to be part of UCB and later collaborate with Will Ferrell on his films and projects.
