Seaton Smith Performs Stand Up on Conan

Seaton Smith, known for his role on “Mulaney“, got to realize one of his comedy goals on Monday by performing on Conan.  Seaton not only loved the welcome he got from Conan’s audience, but also their manners as well. Nice job audience.

Before he even started his routine, Seaton’s gratitude overcame him and he stopped to tell the audience that appearing on Conan O’Brien’s show has been a dream of his for years and after finally getting his first appearance on the show, he graciously thanked Conan himself, saying, “I’m honored to be on this show, so thank you sir. Like, this is dope, man. Thank you Conan. This is cool. Thank you man.”

Seaton said he didn’t want to ruin the good vibe in the room, so he wanted to talk about something that can bring everyone together, police brutality. He said talking about the police with white people always causes some tension in the room, so he just had some things for the “suggestion box” which simply included the cops not shooting him, “please”.

During his set which had the audience laughing hard, sometimes through uncomfortability, which is there by his own design, Seaton Smith talked about ISIS and how scary it can be. More to one race than others. That’s when he hysterically compared the fear of the terrorist group striking in America to the fear of getting shot by the police that black people have. It’s an extremely interesting comparison worth watching.

Seaton also talked about not being able to watch the Oscar winning film, “12 Years a Slave” and how so many white people actually recommend it to him. He described movies about slavery as “black horror movies”. Seaton compared those movies to actual horror films. One suggestion Seaton Smith had for any white viewers was a rebranding campaign for their race, especially after this last Presidential election. He added that he’s not even able to watch cop movies anymore which he used to enjoy. There’s one change in the scripts of those movies that he would like to change.
