Sam Morril to Host New Late Night Sports Show on MSG Networks
It was announced yesterday that NYC comedian Sam Morril, who currently hosts the podcasts Moonlighting and the recently-launched Keeping Joe, has been recruited by MSG Networks to host a new show called People Talking Sports* (*And Other Stuff). The late-night show will air at 11 p.m. Monday — Thursday, and is scheduled to debut on July 10th. Morril is a native New Yorker, and fans of his know that his love for New York sports reaches fanatic levels, so MSG seems like a great home for him.
We don’t know much about the show as of yet, other than the fact that it will center on Morril discussing the full spectrum of New York sports with guests from both the sports and entertainment industries. Each show will begin with an “Opening Monologue” that will be streamed live on the MSG Network’s Facebook page. As far as show regulars, we know that sports reporter and former SB Nation contributor Liz Gonzales will act as a correspondent and occasional panelist on the show. In the two promotional videos released so far, we also see that comedians Joe List (Tuesdays with Stories) and Anthony DeVito (The Rad Dudecast) are involved with the show. List appears to be acting as a correspondent, doing some man-on-the-street interviews, but it’s unclear what role DeVito will play. You can check out both of those videos below.
“I love MSG, I love the Knicks and cheer for most New York teams, and I’m a native New Yorker,” said Morril of the news. “I’m excited to bring an amazing and innovative show to the network. I don’t want to make any guarantees, but I believe the momentum from my soon-to-be hit show will carry the Knicks into next years’ playoffs.”
