SAG Award Nominations In Comedy Announced

The nominations for the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Award were announced on Wednesday.

The dark comedy “Birdman” picked up nods for the awards for actors given by actors. Michael Keaton was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor. Along with Edward Norton and Emma Stone who were both nominated in the Supporting Actor categories. The entire cast received an ensemble nomination for the film.

“Grand Budapest Hotel” also received a nomination for Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Steve Carell’s dramatic turn in “Foxcatcher” was nominated for SAG’s Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor award.

On the comedy television side, Louis CK picked up a nomination for “Louie”. He faces competition from Ty Burrell (Modern Family), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), William H. Macy (Shameless) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory).

In the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series category, the nominees include Uzo Aduba for “Orange is the New Black”, Julie Bowen for “Modern Family”, Edie Falco for “Nurse Jackie”, Julia Louis-Dreyfus for “Veep” and Amy Poehler for “Parks and Recreation”.

The TV comedy ensembles nominated this year are “The Big Bang Theory”, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, “Modern Family”, “Orange is the New Black” and “Veep”.

The 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be live on Sunday, January 25th at 8 pm et on TBS and TNT.
