During an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Ron and Fez Show,” famed screenwriter, director and producer Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn, Machete) announced some great news for fans of the noir crime film “Sin City.” He told Bennington that he’s just finished the long awaited sequel, “Sin City 2”, and it looks like “Sin City 3” isn’t far behind.
“Yeah—the second Sin City– I was just here with Frank Miller last night and we were watching it last night,” Rodriguez told Bennington. “[We] finished the cut, effects are being done, it will come out in August.”
He continued, “He [Miller] watched Part 2—he watched it last night with me and then at the end he said, he didn’t have any comments, he was very happy with it. And he said, now about part three…. Started telling me how he’s going to do part three. So he’s already there on part three.”
Rodriguez fans don’t have to wait till August for something new; his tv series based on the movie “From Dusk Till Dawn” premiers on his own “El Rey” network starting March 11. Fans of the movie will be happy to know that the opening scenes are practically a shot for shot re-creation of the films iconic beginning. But don’t expect to know the story arc, new characters will be coming in, and the series will go far beyond the confines of the film.
The first couple of episodes are going to have some real signposts to the original film. Yet different things will happen to the same characters, new characters will come in and then it all starts going somewhere else. We had to almost re-tell the story in a different way to build up for the next seasons, and re-lay the foundation for a much bigger tale. So part of it was taking some of the hallmarks of the original, and then adding a bunch of things to it.
From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series premiers March 11th at 9pm Eastern on Rodriguez’s new network– El Ray. Find out where you can watch El Rey Network at elreynetwork.com.
