Ricky Gervais is back!

Gervais hosted the Golden Globe awards ceremony for three years in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and now after a three year break during which Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took over, he’s coming back to host in 2016. The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards are set for January 10, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

“We’re excited to have Ricky Gervais back to host the most enjoyable awards show of the season in his own inimitable way,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. ”Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor — and send up — the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seats belts.”

Gervais himself tweeted that he was happy he’s drunk or he might regret the decision to host the Globes again. But he’s already looking out for targets for his opening signature opening monologue.  Over the course of three years hosting, he earned a reputation for shocking many with his willingness offend, skewer, roast, and spar with some of Hollywood’s finest, and he’ll be expected to outdo himself again in 2016.

The creator of “The Office” has won plenty of his own awards– seven BAFTAS, three Golden Globes and two Emmys. And as a stand-up comedian, Gervais has sold over 2 million tickets in arenas around the world.

Globe nominations will be announced December 10th and the ceremonies air in January, and barring some major awards hosting faux pas (or even in the event of one), he’ll probably be back to host the next two years after that.
