Ricky Gervais Shooting Radio Comedy In New York Next Spring

Ricky Gervais Visits "Extra"

Ricky Gervais is going to direct, write, produce and co-star in a movie about some fake radio. Gervais will be shooting Special Correspondents in NYC and Vancouver next year. According to Variety, the film is a remake of a 2009 French comedy which was about two journalists who fake their own kidnapping in Iraq.

In Gervais’ version, Eric Bana will star as a New York radio reporter whose job is on the line. He and his producer start faking war reports from the front lines while hiding out above a Spanish restaurant in Manhattan.

This will be Ricky Gervais’ third time behind the camera as a film director after 2010’s Cemetery Junction and 2009’s The Invention of Lying.
