The Return of Search Party, Dana Gould, Amy Sedaris, and More Taking Part in Upcoming New York TV Festival

If you love TV, then the New York Television Festival, taking place from Monday, October 23 — Saturday, October 28, is your Mecca. Now going into its 13th year, the festival is one of the biggest events in the industry each fall, turning New York City into a hub of some of television’s best and brightest creators. The focus of the festival is not to celebrate the already established shows and stars that dominate TV today, but to help shine a light on some of the most promising independent creators out there and link them up with industry executives who can help them make their vision a reality. That’s not to say that there’s any shortage of stars in attendance at the event, just that the driving force of the whole thing is to elevate undiscovered brilliance.

Speaking of brilliance, festival organizers have released a list of some of the most exciting events going on during the week of showcases, panels and keynote presentations, and there’s some really great comedy offerings in the mix. If you plan on being in the NYC area during that time, consider grabbing yourself a festival pass and checking out some of the events listed below.

On opening day, October 23rd:

truTV Presents At Home with Amy Sedaris: The myth, the legend – Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy, BoJack Horseman) will present a screening and discussion centering on her new truTV show, At Home with Amy Sedaris, which will feature Sedaris as a host of different characters, giving bizarre but strangely useful home cooking and crafting tips.

TBS Presents the Season Two Premiere of Search Party: A panel of cast members from the hit show, including John Early, Meredith Hagner, Lilly Burns, Charles Rogers and John Reynolds, will discuss the show after a screening of the first episode of season 2.

On October 24th:

“The State of TV Comedy: What’s Now, What’s New, What’s Next?”: A panel of comedy executives from various networks will get together to discuss the state of the comedy union. Panelists include Angel Annussek (truTV), Sarah Babineau (Comedy Central), Ayala Cohen (ICM), Jonathan Gabay (FOX), and Christine Lubrano (IFC), and moderated by Project 10’s Andrew Barnsley.

On October 25th:

SundanceTV Presents: Rosehaven: Meet the Creators: Comedians Celia Pacquola and Luke McGregor, the creators of SundanceTVs small-town comedy Rosehaven, will host a screening of the season two premiere and have a discussion about the show with fans and attendees.

On October 26:

IFC Fan Panel: Stan Against Evil: Series creator/EP/writer/star Dana Gould will be joined on stage by producer/star John C. McGinley and star Janet Varney for a behind-the-scenes look at season two and the many monsters and demons it contains.

Some of the events throughout the week-long festival are for industry insiders only, but many of them are available to those who have a festival pass. For more information on all of the festival’s offerings, ticket prices and venue locations, head on over to the festival’s official website.
