Relax, Jon Lovitz and Jessica Lowndes Aren’t Engaged
The internet has been losing its collective shit over the past two days since comedian John Lovitz posted a photo of himself with actress Jessica Lowndes to his Twitter on Sunday evening. The photo, with the caption “Easter with my bunny, @jessicalowndes” was the resolution to a mystery that began two days prior when Lowndes posted photos of an engagement ring and of an older man’s hand on her inner thigh to her Instagram. Another post by Lowndes was simply an old Thai proverb stating “Old cows like to eat young grass,” so she was really laying it on thick that she was engaged to an older man. When it was finally revealed that Lowndes, 27, was “engaged” to Lovitz, 58, the reaction was polarized, to say the least.

Understandably, the blogosphere went nuts at the news, with the predictable debate about whether it’s cute or gross that the two were a couple ensuing shortly after (spoiler: it’s the latter.) The speculation didn’t last long, however. Yesterday afternoon, Lowndes posted a video of herself saying “I know it’s still the last week of March, but is it too early to say April Fools?”
Yes, as it turns out, the Lovitz/Lowndes engagement was a ruse, a calculated PR move in order to generate hype for the debut of Lowndes’ new song, ‘Deja Vu.’ Lovitz is featured in the music video, as himself, playing the shlubby older guy who’s inexplicably landed himself in a relationship with a woman nearly 30 years younger than himself. The video is essentially a series of shots of Lovitz in various sexual situations with Lowndes: him at the foot of the bed that she’s laying naked in, him receiving a blow job in his sweet convertible on a mountainside, Lowndes popping a finger up his butt to Lovitz’s surprise. Much like the real life version of events, however, Lovitz awakens to find that it was all a dream and that he’s actually receiving a prostate exam in the hospital.
Story of all of our lives, right?
If you feel so inclined, the video for Deja Vu can be seen here.
