Reddit Is Tearing Itself Apart Right Now After The Firing Of A Popular Employee

Reddit’s Director Of Talent, Victoria Taylor, was let go from the company yesterday and now moderators across 75% of the site are setting their subreddit’s to private, essentially shutting them down. Victoria ran the immensely popular r/IAmA subreddit and was beloved by the sites users.

There has been no explanation as to why Victoria was fired, only rumors such as a Jesse Jackson AMA that went sideways or that she didn’t want to relocate to San Francisco, or that she was reluctant to make major changes to the way AMA’s worked.

Whatever the reason, the site is in utter turmoil now. Reddit’s CEO made this statement:

Their co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, has also been making statements on the site regarding the shut down. There’s even a brand new subreddit, r/Blackout2015, dedicated to this fiasco –

As of Saturday afternoon, only more sections of the site are joining in on the blackout. The Front Page Of The Internet is quickly becoming a bitch fest forum over this out of the blue firing. Where will people post pictures of cats now? And will celebrities have to go back to press junkets to shill their wares? The horror!
