Rare 70’s George Carlin Footage to Air on GetTV This Monday

TV network getTV featuring classic variety shows, Westerns and more from the Sony Pictures library, has announced that they will be airing the 1977 variety special Mac Davis: Sounds Like Home on Monday, March 13th at 10 p.m., which features some very rare footage of all-time great comedian George Carlin at work.

To promote the special, getTV has released a clip of a young Carlin on stage, doing what he does best: analyzing the small, everyday quirks of our lives that most people don’t think twice about. In this instance, he tackles turns-of-phrase that we all use everyday that, frankly, don’t make much sense, like calling a paperclip a paperclip instead of what it is, a metal clip. And don’t even get him started on the fire department: “Fire department? What a ridiculous name, you’d think they started them. They put them out, they ought to be the extinguishing department, we don’t call the police the crime department, do we?”

Check out the clip below, and then head over to GetTV’s website to see if your cable provider carries the station.
