I’d also pick 60’s for the variety of the decade. Early years still real wholesome, nuclear family.. Going into the Woodstock acid, free love time.

Hard to beat the incredible changes that came about in the last half of the 1960s… the 90s had a chance at being something amazing with the music/indie film explosion until we decided to make Limp Bizkit famous.

We are in the first decade in recorded history in which it is the norm for women to go completely bare down below.  How did it take this long? They didn’t even trim till the 90’s…

  41. eddietirebiter

    November 15, 2012 at 2:16 pm

In the big picture they all have pluses and minuses.  In my life I was all in with a high risk sport in the 2000’s, very high highs.  Nothing beats living each day with a fire in your belly, to live with a passion is to truly live.

Living in earlier times, anything from the middle ages until the 70s, would be super cool right up until your first abscessed tooth and you’re off to see the medieval barber (70s dentistry, same thing).

There did seem to be a  “filtered Excellence” of the 50s.  Science Fiction of that time is still a template for today.  But it could not last.  The Vietnam war, I think is what changed things, when young people started to distrust the government and started to question society.  Things were bound to change

    November 16, 2012 at 2:59 am

New York City for example can be divided by decade. 1950s were a “romantic” time of growth for the city, but it was also the beging of chemical experimentation.  1960 saw the begining of the downward slide in to the 70s where drug abuse and crime were at an all time high. The 70s in NY were ridiculous. The 80 marked an attempt to turn the city around. The NYPD today is much more professional then it was back then. More oversight now. By the late 90s, we started to see positve results.  Today the city in my oppinion is at a high point, if you discount hurricane sandy.

    • Pepper Hicks Coughing Fit

      November 16, 2012 at 3:03 am

granted you have a lot of young people that say the city was better in the 70s, or the 80, or the 90s, or even 10 years ago.  I guess it depends on what you value.  If you don’t mind rape, murder and crack than the 70s and 80 were nice, but if you like to walk around streets safely then today is nice…  …………. and by the way NYC is still pretty bizzare

  59. Scott_Chandwater

    November 16, 2012 at 12:35 pm

1970s for sure. the music, chicks, drugs, were the best.
