Chris Rock Requested That Prince Do 8 Minute Free Jam On Saturday Night Live, and SNL Said Yes
Prince will be doing something different than most musical guests when he performs on Saturday Night Live this weekend. Instead of doing two songs in two separate segments, Prince will be doing one long commercial free jam for 8 minutes in the middle of the show which is hosted this weekend by Chris Rock.
He’ll be backed up by his band 3RDEYEGIRL. According to Stereogum, it was Chris that specifically asked for Prince to be the musical guest and who requested that Prince be allowed to play uninterrupted. It’s been 18 years since Chris Rock hosted Saturday Night Live. His musical guest in 1996 was the Wallflowers.
