Politicians Are Trying to Stop the Release of Generic Oxycontin

oxyNext month, generic Oxycontin is set to be released upon the world and some politicians, including NY Sen. Chuck Schumer, are looking to stop it. The reason? These new generic oxycontin’s are more easily crushable than the name brand stuff. The name brand Oxycontin is harder to snort to stop people from putting it up their noses. It’s unlikely this new generic drug will not come out.

I don’t mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist but, maybe it’s because they are paid by a major pharmecutical company to try and keep their competition off the market.
Hell, the cartels would behead a mutha fucka for less.

@RemyGreen ..the Supreme Court is currenly hearing cases regarding the common practice of brand name companies settling lawsuits with generic manufacturers which results in the generic manufacturer agreeing to not manufacture generic drug.

I don’t believe their reasoning for a second. Are you telling me that regular OxyContin is “difficult” to crush up? Purdue is losing their patent and they are trying to retain exclusivity to the most popular pills on the planet by wetting the beaks of these politicians. If generic versions of Oxy were easier to crush, all the politicians have to do is pass a bill requiring pharmaceutical companies to make them “difficult to crush”. The statement “more easily crushable” is infuriating to me. Slime politicians. And Purdue doesn’t care, pharmaceutical companies have a history of paying millions for unlawful business practices and why noT if it generates billions?

So this dick is like most politicians, payed off by the Pharma lobby. Generic’s cut the price to less than half the
brand name and make it easier for people who need this to get there meds and buy food! I wish he would snort a bullet from a pistol ala Bud Dwyre.

A $3 billion a year product and politicians are worried the generic is too easily broken up? How about addressing how easy it is to get let alone snort? Eat a lobbyist dick Chuck

I’m a pharmacist who was in school when OxyContin came out. It was essentialy supposed to be an extended release percocet for people with intractable pain. No one ever even imagined that people would shoot or snort it, and we expected it to be LESS addictive than percs. Terrible drug.

i heard Oxycontin already has a street value that is almost less than heroin, and it will be driven down even further with this generic.
