Peter Farrelly, Bobby Mort Get New Comedy Series
Writer/director Peter Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary, Shallow Hal) and Emmy-Award winning writer Bobby Mort (The Colbert Report) have a new show coming to TV. In collaboration with Primary Wave Entertainment, Farrelly and Mort have signed a 10-episode series order with AT&T Audience Network to develop a new scripted comedy called Loudermilk.
Loudermilk follows the story of the titular character, Loudermilk, a substance abuse counselor who’s a recovering alcoholic himself. He’s abrasive, uncensored and brutally honest, which has helped him scare away most of the people in his life. His drinking is about the only thing he has a handle on, as the rest of his life is in shambles.
Farrelly and Mort will serve as showrunners and executive producers, with Primary Wave’s Mark Burg and David Guillod also taking up EP duties. Guillod and Burg had this to say of the announcement:
“Peter Farrelly wrote and directed some of the biggest and most quotable comedies of all time. Bobby Mort won an Emmy as a writer for one of the best late-night shows on television while in the confines of a small, poorly ventilated room under the pressure of a ticking clock. There is no better duo to craft an intoxicating narrative for a beautifully flawed malcontent navigating the misadventures of life. Working with this comedy dream team to produce our first scripted half-hour series is a wish come true.”
The show is set to begin production in October of this year in Vancouver, with a premiere date coming some time in the future. The show will be available to DIRECTV and U-verse customers on the AT&T Audience Network. It will be AT&T’s first foray into scripted comedy on the network, being preceded only by The Nick and Artie Show and Supreme Court of Comedy in the comedy department.
