Pete Holmes Is a Silly Silly Fun Boy

“Laugh!! We die!”

By his own definition, Pete Holmes is “a silly silly fun boy”. And, what’s more, he’s a proud silly silly fun boy who is a confessed easy laugh when it comes to comedy.

Pete appeared on Conan on Tuesday night to promote his new HBO special, Faces And Sounds, and his trademark laugh was immediately brought into the conversation. Not only does Pete have a healthy laugh, he generously offers it up.

Pete feels not only are people who are easy laughs criticized, but people end up forcing themselves to be stingy with their laughs to show that they are true connoisseurs of comedy. Pete told Conan, “People are too hard on jokes”. He added, “Life is temporary. We die one day. Live it up.” His advice for anyone watching was to go ahead and “greenlight their own sense of humor.”

There are plenty of ways that Pete Holmes can jumpstart his own laughter all by himself, an activity he often does. To make himself laugh, he just has to think of the name of a certain musician. Watch the clips below to find out who’s name, which was given at birth, can send Pete Holmes into hysterics even when he’s sitting alone. Pete also finds his own laughter while doing a spot-on impression of Snoop Dogg from the film, “Straight Outta Compton”, not exactly known for being a comedy. He added that “joy is hiding in plain sight”, and for people to look for it. Pete even found it by watching a very busy Starbucks barista.

You can see Pete Holmes: Faces And Sounds this Saturday, December 3rd at 10pm on HBO. You can also watch a promo for “Faces And Sounds’ below.
